The explosive “power gipsy dance” band from Florence mixes influences of Balkan and Armenian folklore, as well as klezmer and Italian folk dance pizzica.
Baro Drom Orkestar, from Florence, is another name for the world music with a rock rhythmic seal. The ensemble’s repertoire, played with a combination of folklore and innovative instrumental sound, is dominated by original songs and traditional tunes, rendered in a “power gipsy dance” style.
Their latest album called GENAU! (Musicastrada Records) is an exciting mix of original tunes and diverse inspirations, from Central and Eastern European Romani music to the Mediterranean. In the last five years, Baro Drom Orkestar has played over five hundred concerts. It has performed at major festivals and clubs throughout Europe. It has also collaborated with the Sud Sound System group and at concerts of Goran Bregović (2013, 2016).
